What does "cutoff rank" mean in JAC Delhi counselling?
▼
A cutoff rank is the last rank at which a seat was allotted in a specific college, branch, category, and round. If your JEE Main rank is equal to or lower (better) than the cutoff, you were eligible for that seat.
⚠️ Important: Cutoffs are NOT minimum marks — they are the rank of the last candidate who got that seat. A lower rank number = stronger candidate. So rank 5,000 is better than rank 15,000.
2
Why do cutoffs relax (increase) from Round 1 to Round 5?
▼
In Round 1, only the strongest rankers get seats. Many upgrade to better seats in Round 2 or 3, freeing up earlier seats for candidates with slightly weaker ranks — which is why cutoffs relax.
📌 Practical tip: If your rank is slightly above the Round 1 cutoff, do NOT give up. Participate in every round. Many students secure a seat in Round 4 or 5 that was impossible in Round 1. The Spot Round after Round 5 relaxes cutoffs even further.
3
Which is the toughest branch to get into across DTU, NSUT, and IIIT-Delhi?
▼
CSE and AI-specialised branches are the toughest. 2025 Round 5 General (Delhi) cutoffs:
🔴 NSUT CSAI — ~7,946 (toughest overall)
🔴 IIIT-Delhi CSE — ~8,200
🔴 DTU CSE — ~11,352
🔴 NSUT CSE — ~12,500
🟡 DTU MAC — ~14,000 (great alternative)
If your rank doesn't fit CSE, consider ECE, MAC, or IT — similar first-2-year curriculum and nearly equal tech placements.
4
What is the difference between Delhi region and Outside Delhi cutoffs?
▼
JAC Delhi reserves ~85% seats for Delhi domicile candidates and ~15% for Outside Delhi. Outside Delhi pool competes nationally, so their cutoffs are much tougher.
📊 DTU CSE General Round 5 example:
🟢 Delhi region: ~11,352 | 🔴 Outside Delhi: ~6,200
✅ Delhi domicile students have a massive advantage. Outside Delhi candidates should also explore JoSAA for NIT/IIIT options alongside JAC.
5
How should I use the 2025 cutoff data to predict my chances in 2026?
▼
3-step strategy:
Step 1 — Safety buffer: If your rank is 10–20% better than the 2025 Round 5 cutoff, you have a strong chance.
Step 2 — Dream + Realistic + Safe: Fill at least 8–12 choices — 3 dream branches, 4–5 realistic, 3 safe options.
Step 3 — Watch the trend: If a branch's cutoff tightened every year, assume it will again. Use the Round-wise Trend tab above to see patterns.
6
What is CSAI at NSUT and why is its cutoff so tough?
▼
CSAI = Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence — a dedicated AI+ML branch at NSUT. Why so tough?
1️⃣ Very limited seats compared to regular CSE
2️⃣ AI is the hottest field — everyone wants it
3️⃣ Excellent placements — top MNCs hire at premium packages
💡 If your rank doesn't make CSAI, NSUT CSE or DTU ECE are equally strong career paths.
7
Is IGDTUW only for female candidates? What are its cutoffs like?
▼
Yes — IGDTUW admits only female candidates. This is a huge advantage:
✅ Cutoffs 15,000–25,000 ranks more relaxed than DTU/NSUT for the same branch
✅ Female candidate with rank ~20,000 who misses DTU CSE can easily get CSE at IGDTUW
✅ Excellent placements — Microsoft, Deloitte, Infosys and top startups
✅ Women-specific scholarships and a safe academic environment
📌 Female candidates must add IGDTUW CSE/ECE as a top choice — best value-for-rank in Delhi.

What does the "R1→R5" change column mean in the cutoff table?
▼
The R1→R5 column shows how much the cutoff rank changed from Round 1 to Round 5.
🟢 Positive (green): Cutoff relaxed — branch had unfilled seats and opened to weaker ranks. Example: +8,000 means someone 8,000 ranks weaker than Round 1 still got in by Round 5.
🔴 Negative (red): Cutoff tightened — rare but possible.
💡 Large positive R1→R5 = participating in later rounds significantly helps. Civil, Mechanical, Biotech show +5,000 to +20,000 relaxation consistently.
9
Which branches have the most relaxation between Round 1 and Round 5?
▼
Branches with highest relaxation in 2025 (General, Delhi):
🏗️ Civil Engineering (CE) — 15,000–25,000 rank relaxation
⚙️ Mechanical Engineering (ME) — 10,000–20,000 rank relaxation
🌿 Environmental Engineering (ENV) — 20,000+ rank relaxation
🧬 Biotechnology (BT) — 15,000–20,000 rank relaxation
📌 If your rank is 60,000–80,000, these branches are very achievable in Round 3 or 4. Mechanical and Civil from DTU/NSUT offer good PSU and core industry prospects.
10
What reservation categories are available in JAC Delhi?
▼
JAC Delhi 2026 categories:
🔵 GN (General) — Open to all; toughest cutoffs
🟠 OBC — 27% reservation; ~3,000–8,000 ranks more relaxed than GN
🟣 SC — 15% reservation; significantly more relaxed
🟢 ST — 7.5% reservation; most relaxed cutoffs
🟡 EWS — 10% for GN candidates with family income below ₹8 lakh/year
✅ Always apply under your correct category — your competition pool is much smaller. Ensure your certificate is valid before the JAC registration deadline.
11
My rank is higher than the Round 5 cutoff — does that mean I can't get in?
▼
Not necessarily — here's what you can still do:
1️⃣ 2026 cutoffs may differ — could relax by 5,000–15,000 ranks vs 2025
2️⃣ Try different branches — ECE, IT, or MAC have similar tech placements
3️⃣ Spot Round — after Round 5, most relaxed cutoffs of all rounds
4️⃣ Other campuses — DTU East and NSUT East have more relaxed cutoffs
5️⃣ Register anyway — complete registration before deadline; you can withdraw but can't apply after
12
What is MAC branch at DTU and why is it a smart choice?
▼
MAC = Mathematics and Computing — one of Delhi's most underrated yet powerful branches.
📚 What you study: Advanced maths, statistics, data science, algorithms, ML — more logic and programming, less hardware.
💼 Career outcomes: Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Quant Analyst, AI Researcher. Top recruiters: Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, D.E. Shaw.
📊 Cutoff: Only 2,000–5,000 ranks more relaxed than CSE. With rank 13,000–16,000 (Delhi General), MAC at DTU is a very smart choice — often better long-term than CSE at a tier-2 private college.
13
How reliable is the Rank Checker tool on this page?
▼
The Rank Checker uses actual JAC Delhi 2025 official cutoff data — highly accurate for 2025.
✅ What it tells you: Which college-branch combinations your rank would have qualified for in 2025, across all 5 rounds.
⚠️ What it cannot predict: 2026 cutoffs — these depend on JEE Main 2026 difficulty, total applicants, and seat availability.
💡 Best use: Enter rank → note all qualifying combinations → add ALL as choices during JAC registration → rank from most to least preferred. More choices = safer you are.
14
Which college — DTU or NSUT — has better placements?
▼
🏛️ DTU: Stronger brand nationally, better research output, slightly higher average packages in CSE/ECE, larger senior alumni network.
🏛️ NSUT: Rapidly improving placements year-on-year, NSUT CSAI has some of Delhi's highest packages, strong software and electronics industry connections.
🎯 Verdict: For the same branch, DTU has a slight edge. But branch matters far more than college — CSE at NSUT will almost always outperform Mechanical at DTU in placements and salary.
15
Can I download this cutoff data for offline reference?
▼
Yes! Here's how:
1️⃣ Go to the "Complete Data" tab above
2️⃣ Select your category (GN/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) and region (Delhi/Outside Delhi)
3️⃣ Click "⬇ Download as CSV"
