JAC Delhi 2025 — B.Tech Cutoff Analysis

A cutoff rank is the last rank at which a seat was allotted in a specific college, branch, category, and round. If your JEE Main rank is equal to or lower (better) than the cutoff, you were eligible for that seat.

⚠️ Important: Cutoffs are NOT minimum marks — they are the rank of the last candidate who got that seat. A lower rank number = stronger candidate. So rank 5,000 is better than rank 15,000.

In Round 1, only the strongest rankers get seats. Many upgrade to better seats in Round 2 or 3, freeing up earlier seats for candidates with slightly weaker ranks — which is why cutoffs relax.

📌 Practical tip: If your rank is slightly above the Round 1 cutoff, do NOT give up. Participate in every round. Many students secure a seat in Round 4 or 5 that was impossible in Round 1. The Spot Round after Round 5 relaxes cutoffs even further.

CSE and AI-specialised branches are the toughest. 2025 Round 5 General (Delhi) cutoffs:

🔴 NSUT CSAI — ~7,946 (toughest overall)
🔴 IIIT-Delhi CSE — ~8,200
🔴 DTU CSE — ~11,352
🔴 NSUT CSE — ~12,500
🟡 DTU MAC — ~14,000 (great alternative)

If your rank doesn't fit CSE, consider ECE, MAC, or IT — similar first-2-year curriculum and nearly equal tech placements.

JAC Delhi reserves ~85% seats for Delhi domicile candidates and ~15% for Outside Delhi. Outside Delhi pool competes nationally, so their cutoffs are much tougher.

Step 1 — Safety buffer: If your rank is 10–20% better than the 2025 Round 5 cutoff, you have a strong chance.

Step 2 — Dream + Realistic + Safe: Fill at least 8–12 choices — 3 dream branches, 4–5 realistic, 3 safe options.

CSAI = Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence — a dedicated AI+ML branch at NSUT. Why so tough?

The R1→R5 column shows how much the cutoff rank changed from Round 1 to Round 5.

🟢 Positive (green): Cutoff relaxed — branch had unfilled seats and opened to weaker ranks. Example: +8,000 means someone 8,000 ranks weaker than Round 1 still got in by Round 5.

🔴 Negative (red): Cutoff tightened — rare but possible.

💡 Large positive R1→R5 = participating in later rounds significantly helps. Civil, Mechanical, Biotech show +5,000 to +20,000 relaxation consistently.

Branches with highest relaxation in 2025 (General, Delhi):

🏗️ Civil Engineering (CE) — 15,000–25,000 rank relaxation
⚙️ Mechanical Engineering (ME) — 10,000–20,000 rank relaxation
🌿 Environmental Engineering (ENV) — 20,000+ rank relaxation
🧬 Biotechnology (BT) — 15,000–20,000 rank relaxation

📌 If your rank is 60,000–80,000, these branches are very achievable in Round 3 or 4. Mechanical and Civil from DTU/NSUT offer good PSU and core industry prospects.

JAC Delhi 2026 categories:

🔵 GN (General) — Open to all; toughest cutoffs
🟠 OBC — 27% reservation; ~3,000–8,000 ranks more relaxed than GN
🟣 SC — 15% reservation; significantly more relaxed
🟢 ST — 7.5% reservation; most relaxed cutoffs
🟡 EWS — 10% for GN candidates with family income below ₹8 lakh/year

✅ Always apply under your correct category — your competition pool is much smaller. Ensure your certificate is valid before the JAC registration deadline.

MAC = Mathematics and Computing — one of Delhi's most underrated yet powerful branches.

📚 What you study: Advanced maths, statistics, data science, algorithms, ML — more logic and programming, less hardware.

💼 Career outcomes: Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Quant Analyst, AI Researcher. Top recruiters: Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, D.E. Shaw.

📊 Cutoff: Only 2,000–5,000 ranks more relaxed than CSE. With rank 13,000–16,000 (Delhi General), MAC at DTU is a very smart choice — often better long-term than CSE at a tier-2 private college.
