JoSAA 2026 — Key Notes

Frequently Asked Questions — JAC Delhi & JoSAA 2026

15 FAQs
1
What documents are required for JAC Delhi 2026 registration?
Bring **original + 1 self-attested photocopy** of: Seat Acceptance Fee receipt, registration form, filled choices printout, 3 passport photos, JEE Main admit card & scorecard, Class XII marksheet + admit card, seat allotment letter, Class X birth/DOB certificate, category/sub-category certificate (if applicable), medical fitness certificate, and disability/defence certificates if applicable.
2
What is the JAC Delhi Registration Fee and is it refundable?
The JAC Delhi 2026 registration fee is Rs. 1,500. This fee is completely non-refundable under any circumstance. Please verify your eligibility carefully before registering.
3
If I get a seat in Round 1 and get upgraded in Round 2, do I need to go for document verification again?
No! Candidates who have already completed document verification and received a provisional admission letter are not required to report again to any university for subsequent rounds. Upgradation is automatic — just pay the Seat Acceptance Fee on time.
4
How many choices should I fill in JAC Delhi 2026?
JAC Delhi strongly advises candidates to fill the maximum possible choices. More choices means higher chances of getting a better seat or upgradation. Choice editing is only available during the registration windows — Window 1: May 28–June 9 and Window 2: June 26–28 (before Round 2). No editing is allowed after that.
5
What is the last date to withdraw from JAC Delhi and will the fee be refunded?
The last date for withdrawal is July 12, 2026 (Sunday) by 10:30 PM. Withdrawal is only possible through the online candidate portal — requests via email or application will not be accepted. Seat Acceptance Fee will be refunded if withdrawal is done before this deadline. After withdrawal, the candidate exits all remaining rounds and can only participate in the Spot Round, if conducted.
6
Who is eligible to apply for an IIT seat through JoSAA 2026?
For IIT admissions through JoSAA 2026, candidates must have qualified JEE Advanced 2026. For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, a valid JEE Main 2026 score is required. Each institute has its own cutoff which varies by category, branch, and rank.
7
How many rounds does JoSAA have and which is the final round for IITs?
JoSAA 2026 has a total of 5 rounds. Round 5 is the final round for IITs and IISc — no further rounds will be held for IIT/IISc after this. NIT+ system candidates can participate in CSAB 2026 special rounds. Round 5 seat allocation is scheduled for July 16, 2026.
8
What is AAT for Architecture (B.Arch) and when can choices be filled?
AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) is conducted for admission to B.Arch programs at IITs. Eligible candidates who qualify JEE Advanced can appear for AAT. After the AAT result is declared — from June 7, 2026 — candidates can fill AAT-specific choices on the JoSAA portal.
9
What does "Payment Attempt" mean in JoSAA?
A "Payment Attempt" refers to a situation where a candidate uploaded documents and clicked "Pay Seat Acceptance Fee" but could not complete the payment — due to a technical issue or any other reason. Such candidates are given a special resolution window to complete their payment.
10
Do I need to register separately for the JAC Delhi Spot Round?
No! To participate in the Spot Round, candidates must register during the regular registration window itself. Fresh registrations are not opened before the Spot Round. So every interested candidate must register during the regular window without fail.
11
Which college should I choose — DTU, NSUT, or IGDTUW?
All three colleges are excellent. DTU (Delhi Technological University) is top-ranked for placements and research. NSUT (Netaji Subhas University of Technology) is very strong for CS and ECE. IGDTUW is a women's university with an all-female campus and great placement records. Make your choice based on branch preference — compare cutoffs for CS/IT and pick the best option as per your rank.
12
How much is the JoSAA Seat Acceptance Fee and when must it be paid?
The JoSAA Seat Acceptance Fee for IITs is Rs. 35,000 (General/OBC) and Rs. 15,000 (SC/ST/PwD). The fee for NIT+ institutes is different. It must be paid along with document upload. The pre-payment window was available from June 2–11, 2026. The fee deadline must be strictly followed after each round's seat allotment.
13
What is the special process for PwD candidates in JoSAA 2026?
PwD (Persons with Disability) candidates have a separate physical verification schedule in JoSAA. They must carefully read Section XIX of the JoSAA 2026 Business Rules which details the physical verification dates, venue, and process. It may differ from the regular reporting process.
14
In what format should category certificates be submitted for JAC Delhi?
Category certificates must be in the prescribed format as specified by JAC Delhi. OBC certificates must be non-creamy layer and issued for the current financial year. SC/ST certificates must be issued by the state government. No extra time is given during document verification — so prepare all certificates in the correct format well in advance.
15
What is CSAB 2026 for NIT+ candidates and how can they participate?
CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) 2026 conducts special rounds for the NIT+ system after JoSAA — these include vacancy rounds and unfilled seat rounds. If you did not get a seat after JoSAA Round 5 or want a better seat, you can participate in CSAB 2026. For full details, visit: csab.nic.in
